Ratu Culinary Satay Sauce
The pride of Ratu Culinary! The recipe of the satay sauce is still the way Sri Hartatiek, the founder of the company, brought it from Indonesia to the Netherlands in the 1970s. She made the peanut sauce herself in the kitchen of her small shop. Very soon her satay sauce, and not much later also the peanut sauce for the gado gado, became renowned throughout The Hague. Now almost forty years later, her sauce, prepared according to her family's recipe, is available in shops at home and abroad.
The motto of Sri Hartatiek was: lots of peanuts, only natural spices and no unnecessary additives! Even the texture of the sauce hasn't changed. Sri Hartatiek ground the peanuts in the mortar with his own hands. One of the secrets of her peanut sauce was that you could taste 'peanut pieces'. The peanut sauce was anything but smooth and so was not made from peanut butter for convenience! The latter is still the case. The Ratu Culinary Satay Sauce is also still traditionally prepared in our own kitchen. The golden brown satay sauce consists of at least 70% freshly roasted ground peanuts, which provide a rich, full taste.
In addition to the Ratu Culinair Satay Sauce, there is now also an extra mild sauce: Ratu Culinary Satay Sauce Extra Mild. Chili peppers are not used in the preparation of this peanut sauce, making this satay sauce variant ideal for those who are less fond of 'hot' dishes or are allergic to this ingredient. Another variant is the 'sugar-free' satay sauce. No sugar is added in the preparation of the sauce.
Ratu Culinair's satay sauces can be said to be not only served with satay dishes from Indonesian cuisine. The sauces have become part of Dutch cuisine over the years. Initially it was mainly the Indonesian Dutch who were fond of the sauces of Ratu Culinair, today the sauces are used by everyone in the kitchen. Not only for satay and for vegetable salads, but also with chicken, with meat for the main meal and of course for fries!
Ratu Culinair's Saté Sauce is composed and prepared according to traditional methods based on recipes that have been in the family's possession for more than a century. Put the contents of the package in a pan and stir with boiling water to form a delicious sauce. For the ideal thickness of the sauce, we recommend 80 ml of water per 100 gram of base mixture. Of course you can adjust the thickness of the sauce by adding more or less water.
